Competencies for PTA 263*

 

  1. Student will demonstrate knowledge of basic therapeutic exercise principles, techniques and types, being able to progress patients based on the plan of care as established by the physical therapist.
  2. Student will safely apply superficial and deep heat modalities, electrical stimulation, and continuous passive motion machine, recognizing indications, absolute, and relative contraindications for each.
  3. Student will demonstrate knowledge of entry-level interventions for patients with amputations, wounds, obstetrical problems, and basic neurological diagnoses.
  4. Students will demonstrate entry-level understanding of interventions to be used in specialized areas such as: work hardening, cardiac rehabilitation, chest physical therapy, and splinting.
