Return of Unearned Aid—Responsibility of the Student

Return of Unearned Aid—Responsibility of the Student

The College returns unearned Title IV funds to the U.S. Department of Education in accordance with federal Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4) regulations under the Higher Education Act of 1965.

The student’s share of unearned Title IV grant funds is calculated by subtracting the amount returned by the College from the total amount of unearned Title IV funds. This amount is referred to as the student’s initial amount due.

The amount of any grant overpayment due from the student is limited to the amount by which the original grant overpayment exceeds 50% of the total Title IV grant funds disbursed and that could have been disbursed to the student.

The College will return any required Title IV funds on behalf of the student. As a result, a balance may be created on the student’s account for unpaid institutional charges. The student is responsible for repaying this balance to the College in accordance with institutional policies. Students with an outstanding balance will have a hold placed on their account and will not be permitted to register for future terms or receive official transcripts until the balance is paid in full.
